You can support us by using the donation button with either a one-off contribution or an ongoing support. Your donation will help us enrol trainers and provide maintenance and equipment for the Centre. If you are based in Switzerland, your donation is tax-deductible, as Qantara is recognized as being in the public interest.
We believe that being able to follow one’s dreams and aspirations is as relevant as satisfying basic needs such as food and shelter. The Centre will help youth define their future, both by increasing their resilience and self-esteem through sports and arts and by providing vocational training that can really make a difference in their chances of finding a good job in the field they love and be economically independent.
Courses of sports and music and access to the gym are free for the youth that go to the Centre, as well as all trainings. Adults pay to use the gym, and the cafeteria provides an additional source of income.
Qantara provided the funds for the construction of the Centre and for all the equipment; it will also provide an ongoing support to pay the salaries of the trainers and personnel to train the trainers.
The Centre will become sustainable as far as the ongoing expenses are concerned, as several income generating activities and the involvement of local partners will ensure different sources of revenues and funding besides Qantara.
The Centre can be visited, but Qantara cannot assist in the journey or provide accommodation in Hargeisa. Should you wish to visit, we can arrange for our local personnel or partners to welcome you and show you around.
Qantara is planning to replicate the project in Hargeisa in different countries and with different models. We started in Hargeisa because we had good contacts, a deep knowledge of the country and a detailed mapping of youth needs.
